Dinner @ NU THAI

Went to NU THAI the other day for dinner.
Pictures shown below are what we had that night.

Alright, we obviously didn’t “eat” the statue, just some décor in the restaurant. Authentic, made me feel like I was in THAILAND!!!!

Our entrée: Prawn + coconut + some sort of leave (and it’s not mint). Roll them up using the leave and eat it together. Sorry bout the lame description because I didn’t get to read the menu prior ordering. My friend is the cook over there so we basically just asked him to cook us a meal.

Tom Yum Soup – Nar….I had better elsewhere!

Thai stir fry beef

Chicken

Curry – Hmmm….I still like the one in Café Michael 2

Pud Thai – Special ain’t it?

Of all the food we had that night, my personal favourite will still be the ENTREE! The sweetness(Coconut), the spiciness(Thai Sauce), the bitterness (the leave), it was like thousand of thai people dancing in my mouth. IT WAS THAT GOOD! But too bad I don't know what it was called!

Trip down to central market

Last few weekends ago, like the usual weekend, I had a trip down to central market. Central market is a place where I get cheaper than supermarket poultry, vegetables and fruits. When prices come in cheaper of course the quality will suffer (in most cases) – in terms of quality of vegetables and fruits. I do sometimes prefer to pay more for better quality fruits. I only have a simple conclusion after years of buying from supermarket and central market, which is “the more you pay, the fresher they get”.

Anyway these were the photo snapped during my trip down.
Central market is a pretty popular grocery shopping for overseas student. During most Saturday especially, central market will be filled mostly by students. I do have to admit I’ve met more friends in central market than anyplace in my area.
"Hey Look!! Cheap MEAT leh...let's buy some for ba ku teh"
Summer is here,
Snapped up a beautiful tree
If it wasn't for the light pole, this photo would be so perfect to describe SUMMER
And a beautiful harley too.
Happy summering folks.

FOOD!!!!!!!!!

This is a post about “the not too spectacular food that I’ve had” or “the food that I’ve had but forgot what it is called”.
First up,
Oporto – Big Breakkie

Bacon, eggs, grilled tomato, hash brown and toast.
Picture obtained from the Oporto website.

Ordered the same thing but i got this!!!

Marketing gimmick huh!!! Look how different they both looked!!? But this meal was superbly amazing (after a big night of boozing)! Just what I need after long night of partying. The bacon, the hash brown were too salty though!!.

Next,
Fried Kueh Tiew

at Singma – Southern Cross Food Court.

Comment!!?? It’s cheaper to eat in Malaysia or Singapore.

Next,
Pork Rib Noodle Soup

at Market Plaza Food Court China town

Look Nice doesn’t it!!?

Next,
The Elephant Pub
Chicken Schnitzel with mushroom sauce

Comment: I couldn’t finish the chicken, have got me off chicken schnitzel for a long time. I guess they’ve used chicken breast making the chicken tough and dry.

Garlic Prawn served with Jasmine rice

Comment: Don’t understand why the papadum was there for!!?? Oh yeah..that’s a papadum in case you people don’t know. I was amazed with the shape, how do they cook it in that shape??

Next,
Beef Noodle Soup in a Vietnamese restaurant

Comment: Hmmmmm…..nice tender beef. They’ve put half cooked beef pieces in, and let the heat of the soup finish the rest of its job-thus the redness of the meat. Mix coriander, mint leaf, bean spout with some tangy lemon juice!!!! Woila…delicious noodle!

Next,
Café Primo
Fried Barramundi in creamy sauce

And
Chicken + 2 garlic prawn..!!

Plus a complimentary dessert – PANCAKE!!

There you have it…..A not too spectacular food post.

GORM PROJECT UPDATE

As some of you might remember the GORM project.

The main objectives of my GORM project was to organize my clothes in place.

This was the photos taken several weeks ago..

This is now!!

This is the time I ask myself

...

WHAT IS THE POINT OF GORM PROJECT!!!??

Should have save up the expenses used in GORM and employ a MAID instead.

Christmas Decors

This Christmas, I have seen some pretty good and bad Christmas decors. Somehow, those ang moh have the tradition of hanging lightings around the house, I suppose it’s like CNY where chinks hang their lightings too. Seen some pretty good ones
This is by far the scariest….! So spooky that the photos even came out fulls of orbs and "smoky" effect

.

These decors were placed inside a children's bedroom too!!!!!!

I won't dare to sleep there!

My 1st and 2nd attempts of roasting

What does xmas eve dinner without a turkey right?

So I went out and bought this.
Presenting you
THE TURKEY
.
.
.

.

.

.

.

.
In a box.
COLES turkey thigh roast

The turkey on the packaging looks really nice doesn’t it? Quite frankly, I bought the product because the meal on the packaging showed exactly what I want my xmas eve dinner to be. Together I bought some salmon, some prawn, some bread and some vegetables (carrot, sweet potatoes, potatoes and corn).

Still roasting
After nearly 3 hours of roasting (200 degree Celsius)…here are the end product. Enough to feed 6 persons.
The turkey taste alright, it wasn’t perfect but at least it was turkey. As you guys know, turkey meat are normally tasteless compare to chicken. My Salmon, bread, and corn on a different tray I was hoping it would look somewhat similar than those shown on the package, when I looked at my end product and looked at the packaging, they were totally different!!! One was darkish brown colour while the other was pinkish white xmas turkey!!! So much for the marketing gimmick hey!!
If I were to give my advise to people who wants to roast similar product, I would suggest turkey breast rather than turkey thigh.

Turkey part is finish!! Let’s go to the CHICKEN part (had the chicken dinner on a different occasion).
Chicken is far easier to roast compare to the turkey roll because it takes less time, and the flavors are far more acceptable than turkey. Instant mix chicken stuffing are widely available in supermarket. Just mix it up and stuff it inside the chicken.
45 minutes on one side, turn it and continue roasting for additional 30 minutes on 200 Celsius. Here’s the end product! It tasted far better than turkey!! It tasted so good that even Father Christmas came for a meal!!
